Some songs just give you chills, but rarely do remixes….this one is the exception. This shit is just NUTZ from the way Jay got on it to the switch-up from Swizzy at the end. Kanye West seriously just spazzed on the track. He came back with POWER (pun intended). Everybody already knew the 808… Days were over but this really, really proves that. Sit back and enjoy 5 minutes of the future of hip hop.

J. Cole’s unnamed album is easily one of the top 3 heavily anticipated albums, and perhaps first because it will be his debut studio album off of the highly-touted Roc Nation label. And, to be honest, I don’t care what he names it, so long as it drops ASAP. This purported cut off the album, in true J. Cole fashion, reflects his struggles and his confidence that his escape “won’t be long” from now.

Born in England and raised in Thailand, Hugo is a new artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, and he’s put a spin on “99 Problems” that no one saw coming; a horror flick inspired visual for a rock remake of 99 Problems. Like it or not, it’s a drastically different twist on the classic Jigga track that has the chance to bring the song to an entirely new audience. This is a single off of his upcoming album, Old Tyme Religion, which Hugo believes to be as mainstream as anything out there now – almost like an artful twist on pop and rock.

Another club banger from two kings of their respective crafts! I especially like when the distorted drum breaks come in to really resonate the melody and punctuate the gyrating-inducing production (the chorus part). And, wow!, what a verse from Hov, as he transitions seamlessly from rumors that he’s a part of the Illuminati to the clarification that he was born as something divine and had to downgrade to a human. These two guys seem to complement each other really well, and this collab makes me think they should’ve collaborated on a Best of Both Worlds project. As of now, Ester Dean is on the female vocals, but rumor is that the final product for the Usher’s Versus EP will feature Ciara. By the way, would you call a significant other your hot toddy?!

This is not one of his funniest spoofs, but give the guy credit – dude’s ideas are genius, and he readily deserves a show. The guy playing John Mayer is the most hilarious because those are exactly the expressions John makes when he’s ripping up a guitar riff.

Play on words, or blatant disregard for religion? Its really your choice, but Jay-Z’s lyrics seem to dismiss all claims that he was (keyword was) in the ‘illuminati’ or worships the devil. Personally, I think the guy has motives behind his music, but who am I to say for sure. During an interview with Power 105.3 he described the slander against his name as equivalent to that of Will Smith, or Tom Cruise. With all that set aside, the instrumental is on par, and John Legends crooning on the hook is well received.

Mad random to flip this old track from “American Gangster” but Cookin’ Soul did their thing matching up this epic collab with Quincy Jones’s classic track “Summer in the City.” Peep the visuals as well courtesy of Greg Solenström. I’m sure this remix had to make Drake blush. You’re talking about an already dope song being remixed by Cookin’ Soul adding another hip hop legend. The production is straight epic!
