Mixtape: Marky – Journey to Markyland, USA: Rest Stop 3 | @Markyland
Ok, if you’ve been like us, you’ve been hastily anticipating the drop of this project, the third of a trilogy brought to you by iLLVibes fave Marky (by the way, hit the link to hear his hot, new single “Where She From” that’s available for streaming on his myspace page). You’ve already heard the sentimentally motivated and acutely introspective “Rocket Man”, with the underlying Elton-John sample, that finds Marky saying his goodbyes to many as he proceeds on his journey to stardom, while “Bulletproof” (taken from the La Roux song) is an electrically-charged and high-paced back-and-forth chase with an intentionally-resistant girl who has no other route but to give in. And then we finally heard the homage-to-hip-hop “Purple” that outlines Marky’s sentiments about troubles in his life, including his dealings with his imprisoned cousin. To further encourage you to peep this project, we’ve also streamed two other faves from the project, and after the jump, you can hit the link to download! By the way, this is Winnin’ Streak music!!! And just in case you missed out on the first two installments, be sure to visit Marky’s Bandcamp Page.

A collection of older releases and freestyles not appearing on "The Come Up" or "The Warm Up". This is a nice compilation for those who have not been keeping up with J. Cole leaks over the past few months. I can't wait until this kid releases his debut album; I'm ...continue

Dope new track from Mr. Tom Hardy entitled "True Talent". I'm really lovin' the beat - produced by Hardy himself in conjunction with his production team, Thee Band Geeks. Wordplay on this track is clever and fun. The last line of the song really resonated with me - ...continue

In honor of the release of Statik's "100 Proof: The Hangover" tomorrow, I decided to post this mixtape. Compiled by the good people of Kevin Nottingham, this mixtape highlights some of Statik's best work over the past year. I've been following Statik ever since the release of the Nas "Prophecy" ...continue

After listening to multiple leaks and freestyles, the time has finally come - "No Mixtape" is here. Mr. Trill himself definitely held it down on this project. If you download anything today, make sure you scoop this. "Pants on the ground, Pants on the ground...looking like a fool with your ...continue

::cue in Just-Ice ft. KRS-One "Going Way Back":: This was my joint - straight headbanging boom bap hip-hop. Surprisingly, Shaq came with a few bars on this track. I still have no respect for the man after the whole Gilbert Arenas incident. SMH! Let it marinate. Video Information: Artist: Fu-Schnickens ft. ...continue

I'm glad to see that these Georgia and Kentucky natives are back at it. To me, their sound has always resembled a southern version of the late Cali group Jurrasic 5. "Watermelon, Chicken, and Gritz" used to get some major play in my Sony CD Walkman with G-Protection ("outdated, ...continue

Yet another dope track from Know:Juander. I love the beat and the hook is straight mesmerizing. Know:Juander has garnered a lot of respect in my book and I look forward to all of his future projects. If you haven't listened to "A Kid Love, Beta", *Dap (School Daze)* "WAAAAAAKEEE ...continue

This joint came on the radio today and made me hit up a crazy head bop. Bahamadia clocks in at number four on my top 5 female emcees list. This philly native always comes correct with her lyrics and mesmerizes you with her smooth monotone vocals. Kollage is definitely ...continue
