How To Make A Daft Punk Helmet in 17 Months

posted by: Stay2Fresh | comment

Comic Con is going on and this guy has spent the past 17 months creating a Daft Punk helmet to wear at the event. Talk about a true fan. You can check more of his videos where he breaks down each part and it’s making. Upon further investigation, the company that built the real models for Daft Punk will make more under two circumstances; 1) Daft Punk have to approve the purchase and 2) you have to shell out $65,000. I’d love one, but I’d rather wait till more kids make them and the price goes down. How much would you pay for one?

Animation: Blu – “Big Bam Big Boom”

posted by: chauda | comment

“BIG BANG BIG BOOM: an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end.” Not to be confused with the rapper by the same name, the French artist who goes by the moniker Blu is a tour-de-force when it comes to street art. One good reason why he is a quickly becoming a fixture in peoples heads is these insane videos he creates. It’s like watching the city come alive.

iPhone 4 vs HTC Evo

posted by: Ataintive | comment

I’m an iPhone enthusiast. No denying it. Maybe you call that conforming, but I call it choosing the best. Despite its lag in providing features most other smartphones have had for years, the multitudes scour for it unlike any other phone, that has ever been on the market. Whether Apple’s genius marketing schemes have you in a trance or you genuinely have compared the schematics against the (weak) competition, if you’re an iPhone drone like myself (with iPhone 4 in tow), you have likely had, at least, an ounce of haterade poured on your head by non-iPhone associates. The video after the jump has to be the most creative iPhone-bashing video I’ve ever seen. I guess good can come from hate. Rated R for vulgar (but very funny) language.

John Legend + The Roots – “Our Generation”

posted by: chauda | comment

John Legend and The Roots Crew honor Ernie Hines‘ “Our Generation” for Levi’s Pioneer Sessions campaign. “Legend and The Roots’s modern interpretation of ‘Our Generation‘ retains the all of the authenticity of the original track: It gets funky from the outset, with big fat brass and an ice cold keyboard vamp, inspirational backing singers and a particularly gritty vocal by Legend who reiterates Hines’s 40-year-old message about making the future better by ‘getting rid of all the hate.’”

Raphael Saadiq – “It’s a Shame” (Spinners Cover)

posted by: chauda | comment

I absolutely love the work Raphael Saadiq does for his solo projects as well as for other artists. In my opinion, his last album The Way I See It, was heavily slept on, but I thought he successfully blended that old soul vibe into a modern album. It felt polished and classy. This Spinners song is one of my favorites (come on, Stevie co-wrote it), so I was curious to see how his version would sound.

Classic Video: Slum Village (feat. Dwele) – Tainted

posted by: Ataintive | 1 love

Video Vitals
Artist: Slum Village (feat. Dwele)
Track: Tainted
Album: Trinity (Past, Present, and Future)
Year: 2002

Though “Tainted” was released circa early twenty-first century, I still consider this track to be a classic. The video also deserves mention due to its unique use of drawn or painted backdrops with other tangible elements promoting depth perception, making it look artistic and realistic simultaneously. Watch carefully for little quirks like Baatin’s possession of an award-like item representing his “integrity, heart, and soul.”

The Mortals are making a Kom’back? | #Kombat

posted by: chauda | 1 love

Speculations has run rampant lately with the debut of a short “Mortal Kombat” film, subtitled “Rebirth” that made its way anonymously to Youtube. Turns out it’s a test for potential R-rated film reboot of the video game franchise; a much needed one in fact. Today, surprisingly – Warner Bros. has coincidentally announced a new Mortal Kombat game from a new team, called NetherRealm Studios under guidance by original MK creator Ed Boon. To see the trailers for “Rebirth” and “Mortal Kombat (9th installment) ” … Continue »

MIXTAPE: COMPLEX x Vitamin Water- The Choice Is Yours

posted by: ibehESQUIRE | 1 love

Vitamin Water and Complex are teaming up to make this the most memorable NBA Free Agency in history. They are playing to the theme of Lebron’s Year Long indecisiveness about his plans for next season. On one of the tracks, the likes of Jadakiss, Brisco, Uncle Murda, Mikey Rocks, and Nipsey Hu$$le act as representatives for their cities to lure Lebron. Chip Tha Ripper takes on the persona of King James and tells them how he “really feels”. Overall I think its a witty concept, that is sure to be succesful. This mini-mixtape contains three songs but it packs a punch lyrically.
