Exclusive iLLVibes-DMV.com Interview: The Clipse

Probably the most anticipated album to drop in recent memory, ‘Til the Casket Drops will be the third album from arguably the greatest rap duo/group in hip hop history, Clipse. Everyone remembers that day that Lord Willin’ dropped, and for the duo to come around and drop the easily-marked classic in Hell Hath No Fury, we expect nothing but greatness and excellence in their third project. I feel personally connected to the project, if there ever is a connection, because I lived most of my life in the 757 area, in Newport News, and while I currently live in the District, there is still that sense of connection and pride in seeing such a raw, gritty, and honest group heralding themselves as a respectable group, all while claiming their origin in Virginia.

This interview is more a conversation we had with Malice and Pusha, with Pusha T manning the main part of the interview. Hear him as he discusses his label frustrations, the origin of Playcloths, his fashion mentality and his thoughts on sneakerheads, and how he compares “Til the Casket Drops” to “Lord Willin’”. He discusses the motivation behind reaching out to producers beyond the Neptunes, the reasoning for his “eghck”, and the significance of the symbolism on their project covers. As a bonus, we get a glimpse into the details of Malice’s new book Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind, & Naked.

Enjoy and definitely leave your comments, and be sure to cop that album tomorrow! ‘Til the Casket Drops!!

“I’m gonna say that ‘Til the Casket Drops is more Lord Willin’ than it is Hell Hath No Fury.
