iLLVibes caught up with DMV’s own Wale backstage and onstage at Love Nightclub, where he performed his hits “Dig Dug,” “Chillin’,” and the DMV-themed “Nike Boots” (Part 1). It was truly a pleasure meeting DC’s Ambassador of Rap. The footage does not entirely capture all aspects of Wale – from his personality and humor to his humility. You see a tip of the iceberg from his Twitter, but even then, you don’t entirely see the work this guy puts in to create excellent music and, at the same time, the love he has for his hometown. What truly made my night was his performance of his, to me, classic hits from years back, from “One Thing About a Playa” and “Breakdown” to “Dig Dug.” Remember, this is “hip hop with a go go attachment.” A special shoutout to J. Ben for also holding us down!
